Rose Finn-Kelcey 1945-2014

English artist Rose Finn-Kelcey's more recent experiments with material (as with Steam Installation, 1992, a room full of steam held in place by cold air curtains) and text / words (It Rules, 2002, a series of fast-moving messages flowing across a LED display, with voice interruptions) arise out of earlier works from the 1970s which focused explicitly on performance, scale, and text.

Her work is often site-specific and as such dependent on the active engagement of the audience as well as photographs and documentation.

Finn-Kelcey featured in Out of Actions: Between Performance and the Object 1949-1979, MOCA, Los Angeles in 1998, and her work is in held in the permanent collections of Tate, The Arts Council, The British Council, The V & A, the Welkunst Foundation and the Bernard Starkman Collection.
