Her mixed media works, made from materials as diverse as crayon, washing powder, icing sugar and glue, acknowledge the boundaries between domestic space, the public sphere and political arena, arguing that no clear separation can exist between the three. Her work is informed by her role as a mother, educator to young children with disabilities and a political campaigner. During the 1980s, she was involved in the demonstrations against nuclear weapons, active during the Minsters’ Strikes and later ran for office with Tony Fry and Kate Miles (although she was not elected). She joined a women’s group to paint a mural on the boards of a vacant shop in Leamington, focusing on the 1960s massacre at Sharpeville and the struggle at Greenham Common, which subsequently resulted in her arrest and imprisonment.
