Long manipulated by humans for irrigation, navigation and energy, rivers are also often sites of conflict: vital natural resources that cleave a way between nations. Leaking Lines, explores the dual nature of rivers as essential resources and centres of geopolitical tension. This series juxtaposes serene, postcard-like imagery with the presence of barbed wire, symbolising the contentious disputes surrounding water bodies. Through a delicate colour palette, Kallat reveals the underlying fragility of borders amidst the harsh realities of political conflict.
