The typed poem is taken from a NYT article about a Queen’s schoolteacher, who taught poetry. This poem was written by a young 7 year old in a wheelchair, written about his mother:
When I think of your soul, the ocean opens.
When I think of your heart, water turns into blood.
When I think of your hair, the nine planets turn to rain.
Tar leaves on the edges of the canvas are meant to replicate the laurel leaf crown.
