Hands are a recurring motif in Powell’s work. The slender fingers with curved tips here are modelled on her own hands. The back of the hand is scored with diamond shapes where the knuckles would be. That, together with the scrolled shape at the base and the hollowed out palm suggest a glove as much as a hand, but a glove has been animated in the hands absence.
