Marta Roberti lives and works in Rome. After graduating in Philosophy, she earned a diploma in Cinema and Video from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Drawing is her primary medium, which she extends into installations and video animation to explore transformation, hybridity, and the relationships between humans, animals, and plants. Rooted in mythology, anthropology, and philosophies of becoming, her work questions anthropocentric hierarchies and creates dialogues between Eastern and Western imaginaries.
In 2020, she received the Cantica21 grant, promoted by the Italian Ministry of Culture and Foreign Affairs, and in 2026, she won First Prize at the Prix Carta Bianca. Her work is held in the collections of public institutions such as the Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica, Rome, and EMST – National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens.
Among her major collaborations is Ancestors of a Time to Come, a monumental installation of embroidered tapestries created for the Dior Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2023 show at the Musée Rodin, Paris. The installation is part of the Dior Heritage Collection.
Solo exhibitions include Due mondi e io vengo dall’altro at z2o Sara Zanin, Rome (2025); Giungla a palazzo at Palazzo Boncompagni, Bologna (2025); Rivelazioni at Museo Sant’Orsola, Florence (2024); When it was now at the Italian Cultural Institute, Mexico City (2023); In metamorfosi at z2o Sara Zanin, Rome (2021); There is an Elephant in the Room at Fondazione Pastificio Cerere, Rome (2020); and Scarabocchio (Becoming_abject) at the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei (2014).
Her work has been presented at major international museums and institutions, including MACRO – Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome; EMST – National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens; the Anahuacalli Museum, Mexico City; MAN, Nuoro; the China Academy of Art, Hangzhou; Palazzo Collicola, Spoleto; Palazzo Strozzi, Florence; and the National Gallery of Modern Art, Rome.
