Silent Women Alone We Failed, which was in the Goldsmith’s show was in Alexis files in 2013 as a unique piece not a copy or edition.
Two sets were printed at the time the work was made (1981) from slides which were which were then colour xeroxed. When printing Alexis asked the printers for different saturation of colours as another set.

'The violence suggested in Approach to Fear II: Change Decisive is realised in the later work To Silent Women (alone we failed) – a woman sits with a glass of wine and a razorblade, trims her nails, then cuts herself. After spelling out the title phrase on the tiled countertop, she bloodies her own wrist, then rubs out the wording. Made shortly before she stepped away from photography to focus on painting, the work feels like a straightforward (if horrifying) appeal to solidarity and the power of the collective voice.' - Hettie Judah
