Once again we see that skewed frame that was becoming a signature device for Law, but here a schematic yet inescapably phallic form shoots a plume of energy towards the sky. The cloud that gathers suggests a field of transformative potential more than a meteorological phenomenon, pointing to the increasingly abstract and metaphysical concerns of Law’s 1960s Field Drawings. This intersection of body and field — whether that field be a plot of land, a psychic field, or the field of painting — remained a constant fascination throughout Law’s career.Exhibitions
