Anastasiia Fedorova & Anna Sampson : Double book signing & in-conversation moderated by Eva Oh

18 October 2025
Overview

The event starts at 4pm

Join us for a double-book signing of Anna Sampson's Other Intimacies (2024) and Anastasiia Fedororva's Second Skin (2025), followed by a conversation between artists, moderated by Eva Oh.

Other Intimacies is a new independently published book by London-based artist Anna Sampson, which explores the boundaries of erotica as a genre, reclaiming it from the oppressive heritage of the male gaze prevalent in the 20th century. It also shines a spotlight on the themes which largely remain in the shadows in contemporary society: queer desire and intimacy, subversive exploration of gender, the politics of sexual autonomy, sex work and the unapologetic, embodied exploration of self.

Anastasiia Fedorova's book SECOND SKIN offers a tour through the materials, objects and power dynamics commonly fetishised, unpacking their histories, their expressive potential, and the communities they give rise to. Drawing from her encounters with fellow fetishists and kinksters, it is also the story of Fedorova's own journey: of what it means to come to terms with one's sexuality.

The event will be presented in the context of the exhibition Unveiled Desires: Fetish & The Erotic in Surrealism, curated by RAW (Rediscovering Art by Women).

Anna Sampson is a London-based photographic artist who works exclusively with film, creating all her artworks in the darkroom. She holds a BA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts (2015) and an MA in Gender & Sexuality from UCL (2021), her work has been exhibited internationally and featured in acclaimed cult publications including DAZED, i-D, AnOther, Purple Fashion, Gay Times, and The Face. Anna’s practice is rooted in a queer erotic gaze, using the body as a site to explore the intersections of performance, queerness, and resistance. Deeply informed by personal life experience and intersectional feminism, her work centres those often marginalised by mainstream narratives. At the core of her artistic vision is a commitment to social justice and the representation of an inclusive, celebratory space of desire. Her practice reflects a lasting commitment to erotic portraiture, darkroom processes and platforming radical, othered beauty.  In July 2024, Anna released her debut artbook, Other Intimacies, in collaboration with the Hayward Gallery

Anastasiia Fedorova is a writer, curator and researcher based in London. Her work explores sexuality and identity through the prism of art, fashion, consumerism, technology, and contemporary visual culture. She has written for DAZED, i-D, Kaleidoscope Magazine, 032c, Foam Magazine, SHOWstudio, GARAGE, Frieze and Vogue amongst other publications. A large amount of her work is dedicated to exploring queer communities, the ways they are archived and documented, and the poetic and radical potential of queer love and sex. In 2022-2023, Anastasiia was part of the team behind HÄN, a contemporary queer archive dedicated to lesbian, dyke, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming creative expression, which was supported by Arts Council England. She is the founder of Russian Queer Revolution, a platform for LGBTQ+ creatives from Russia, which she ran in 2020-2021. Anastasiia is an acknowledged cultural specialist and has appeared as a speaker at ICA London, the Barbican, the BFI, and a range of SHOWstudio panels. She has been a guest lecturer at Chelsea College of Art, University of Arts London, Central Saint Martins, Birkbeck, Middlesex University, New York University, and University of Michigan. Anastasiia is represented by A M Heath literary agency in London. Her debut book, Second Skin, will be published by Granta in June 2025.

Eva Oh - internationally recognised as Mistress Eva - is a Dominatrix, educator, filmmaker, and advocate whose work has shaped global conversations on sexuality, BDSM, and sex work. Honoured with a Sexual Freedom Award and celebrated as the face of the German Fetish Ball, she is also the creator of the pioneering submissive training platform youwillpleaseme.com, the award-winning Safeword podcast, and the #teakink series. Her influence spans far beyond the dungeon. Profiled by The Washington Post, WIRED, Rolling Stone, Entrepreneur, VICE, DAZED, i-D, InStyle, and Newsweek, Eva’s perspective is informed by a career that bridges strategic development, ethnographic research, sustainable design, social work, and performance art. She has spoken at international stages including the Berlin Porn Film Festival, PinkFest Singapore, and Burning Man USA, and continues to mentor and consult for those navigating BDSM and creative industries. Eva’s journey began in 2011, when she left the corporate sector to train at Sydney’s legendary Salon Kitty’s under Head Mistress Amanda, later publishing an industry guide in English and Japanese. Her ongoing memoir-guide expands on that legacy, combining lived experience with cultural critique. Her creative work extends into film: her debut Grief Encounter (with Ellen Pearson and Kitty Drake) won the Baron Art Prize 2022, premiered at Rotterdam International Film Festival, and was released by Erika Lust’s XConfessions. She has since acted in further films for Lust, cementing her voice in erotic cinema. Beyond sexuality, Eva is a trustee of RAW (Rediscovering Art by Women), a UK charity dedicated to reviving overlooked female artists. Her legacy is also archived at the UK Fetish Archive, Bishopsgate Institute, and immortalised in a Sardax portrait inspired by Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. Today, Eva continues to use media, mentorship, and performance to destigmatise sexuality, advance sex workers’ rights, and explore how power, intimacy, and culture intersect.
