To mark the closing of I LIE, Silvia Giambrone's solo exhibition at Richard Saltoun Gallery Rome, we are delighted to present a special in-conversation event featuring the artist Silvia Giambrone, alongside Giovanna Melandri, President of Human Foundation and Activities and Paola Ugolini, art historian and curator.

Drawing on the themes at the heart of I LIE—a new body of work that investigates the lie as an ontological and political structure of the present, continuing the artist's long-standing exploration of abuse, violence, and invisible forms of subjugation—the conversation will offer an opportunity to further examine the ideas that underpin the exhibition, reflecting on the relationship between individual experience, the construction of truth, and dynamics of power.

Throughout the event, Silvia Giambrone will alternate the conversation with readings from a selection of texts by Rainer Maria Rilke, Clarice Lispector, and other authors whose reflections on the relationship between objects, language, and the truth of existence resonate deeply with her artistic practice.

Giovanna Melandri is currently President of Human Foundation. Formerly Italy's Minister for Cultural Heritage and Activities and President of Fondazione MAXXI (2012–2022), her work focuses on the relationship between culture, social innovation, and social impact, promoting the role of art and culture in contemporary society.

Paola Ugolini is an art historian, art critic, and independent curator. Her curatorial practice focuses on women artists, feminist art, video, and performance. Since 2020, she has been Curator and Board Member of Fondazione In Between Art Film, where she develops exhibitions and research projects dedicated to contemporary art.
