Hans-Peter FELDMANN
Untitled (Sunday Pictures), 1976

Richard Saltoun gallery is delighted to announce the inaugural exhibition at its new gallery in London's West End, featuring major works by nine important post-war contemporary artists. The gallery is located in the former David Roberts Foundation exhibition space on Great Titchfield Street.

Works in the exhibition include Hans-Peter FELDMANN's Sunday's Pictures (1976); Joseph BEUYS's Orwell Leg, Trousers for the 21st Century (1984) and William WEGMAN's lesser-known conceptual photographs from the early 1970s.

Dominating one gallery wall is Guiseppe PENONE's Unghiate (1989), a spectacular example from the series. This massive work, over 7 metres in length, comprises 35 sheets of paper pinned onto the wall. On each sheet Penone has clawed a series of tears with his nail, the Unghiate. Inside the lip of each tear he has inserted a gesso cast of his finger and nail, delicately balanced on the torn white 'scratches' of the paper.

Other artists exhibited include Marcel BROODTHAERS, Ger van ELK, Nigel HENDERSON, Bob LAW and Franz-Erhard WALTHER.
