As part of a three year project in collaboration with the Chanel Culture Fund, the National Portrait Gallery has acquired five self portraits by female artists to enhance the representation of women in their collection.
This includes Everlyn Nicodemus' Självporträtt [Self Portrait], the first painted self-portrait by a black female artist in the gallery's collection.
Also acquired are works by Rose Finn-Kelcey, Chila Kumaru Burman, Celia Paul, and Susan Hiller.
