Unpublished and unseen since first conceived in the political upheaval of 1968, STOP marks Peter Kennard’s turn from painting to photomontage in response to the Vietnam War and the global struggles that followed. Seeking a more direct visual language, he began layering press images with scratches, marks and fragments, breaking down photographic realism into a stark narrative of power and resistance.

Entirely visual, the book asks to be read rather than simply viewed. Across its pages, war is seen not an isolated event but a system — organised, repeated and normalised.
