Ida Barbarigo

This volume is dedicated to Ida Barbarigo (1920–2018), the last heir of the historic Venetian Cadorin dynasty, active in art since the eighteenth century. After classical studies, she chose painting as an absolute necessity, a vital language that could not be reduced to categories. Between Venice and Paris, she forged an autonomous and profound path, guided by an inner tension rather than stylistic demands.

His vast and evolving oeuvre unfolds in cycles: from the celebrated "Seggiole" (Chairs) to the "Persecutori" (Persecutors), from the enigmatic "Herms" to the portraits of François Mitterrand, up to the "Sphinxes," the "Terrestrials," and the final, visionary series, "Unità nel profondo" (Unity in the Deep). Each series offers a glimpse into the artist's inner world, a form that becomes presence, memory, and questioning.
