For ARCO Madrid, Richard Saltoun Gallery presents a curated stand dedicated to artists from the Global South. Central to the presentation is a major work by Columbian artist
Olga de Amaral (b. 1932), recently included in her touring retrospective at Fondation Cartier, Paris, and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. Known for her monumental textile works that fuse pre-Columbian references with modernist abstraction, she transforms woven fibre and gold leaf into immersive, architectonic forms.
Exhibited alongside this will be the largest private collection of works on paper by the Argentinian artist and activist
Edgardo Antonio Vigo (
1928–1997), which will be made available for sale. The presentation includes Vigo's compelling graphic works, many of which he mailed to fellow artists through an international mail art network, using circulation and exchange as central components of his practice. When his son Palomo became one of the
disappeared in 1976, these works assumed a renewed urgency of a father searching for his son, transforming them into vehicles of profound political and personal resonance.
The stand will also feature works from the Mozambican artist
Bertina Lopes (1924–2021). Widely regarded as one of the most significant African women artists of the second half of the 20th century, Lopes developed a practice marked by incisive social critique and an engagement with anti-colonial and nationalist struggles. Her inclusion follows the major presentation at the 36th São Paulo Bienal,
Not All Travellers Walk Roads - Of Humanity as Practice (2025-2026), where twenty-one of her paintings were exhibited, reaffirming the enduring relevance and legacy of her work.
Additional works will be on view by Reena Saini Kallat (b. 1973, Indian), Simryn Gill (b. 1959, Malaysian), Daiara Tukano (b.1982, Brazilian), Bonolo Kavula (b. 1992, South African), and Juliana Seraphim (1934–2005, Palestinian/Lebanese), each of whom explores themes of migration, diaspora, and geopolitics through their work.
