Beyond Feminism: V&A Lates

26 April 2024

This event runs 18:30 - 20:00

Artists, performers and collectives explore alternative pathways of feminism through sensorial experiences, healing, activism practices and ancestral stories. The evening will share how feminist networks of care can be extended beyond conventional boundaries, debunking dominant narratives on gender, race and the body. It celebrates ways of strengthening support for communities marginalised by patriarchal systems and under-represented in previous waves.

On display will be Wilma WOOLF's 'Domestic', an installation documenting all the women that have been killed in the UK at the hands of male violence since 2013. This incredibly important work by Woolf consists of eight individual plates, placed on a table, representing eight years of data. The woman’s name, relationship to her killer, and specifically designed icons by the artist, create a visual language to communicate the cause of death.

Anna PERACH's tufted sculptures from the series Mistress of the Desert, previously shown as a part of Unruly Bodies at Goldsmiths CCA (2023) will exhibited as a part of the event, as well as a part of her performance Ecstasies with an original soundtrack by Laima Leyton, previously performed at Gasworks for Perach's solo exhibition Holes, earlier this year.
