TALK | TUESDAY 13 sEPTEMBER, 5PM (TBA)
Richard Saltoun Gallery presents Elsewhere is Already Here, the first solo exhibition in London by Reena Saini Kallat (b. 1973, Delhi, India), one of India's foremost contemporary artists. Working across drawing, photography, sculpture and video, Kallat's practice explores political and social borders, and the ways in which they divide land, people and natural resources. Her interest in migration, displacement and contested territories is informed in part by the continuing aftershocks of Partition, which was experienced by her paternal family.

Bringing together works that explore water as a border that both separates and connects, the exhibition considers how boundaries shape movement, migration and belonging. The presentation centres on three monumental works - Woven Chronicle (Water Stress) (2026), River Boundaries Break the Sound of Silence Between Them (2022) and Earth Families (2026)-alongside a selection of works spanning her wider practice.

Previous iterations of Woven Chronicle have been exhibited at several prestigious institutions, including MoMA, New York (2016/17); Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney (2018/19); ICA Boston (2019), and most recently at this year's Venice Biennale in a collateral event presented by the Saudi Ministry of Culture.
