Jubilee Room, Houses of Parliament
March 7: 13:30-18:00, artists talk: 14:30

Richard Saltoun Gallery are delighted to present Wilma WOOLF's Domestic at a special event at the Houses of Parliament on 7 March 2022 (International Women's Day) by invitation of Jess Phillips MP. Domestic will be available to view from 13:30-18:00 in the Jubilee Room with an artists talk at 14:30.

Domestic, documents all the women that have been killed in the UK at the hands of male violence since 2013. This incredibly important work by WOOLF consists of eight individual plates, placed on a table, representing eight years of data. The woman’s name, relationship to her killer, and specifically designed icons by the artist, create a visual language to communicate the cause of death.

The UK government does not currently record this data. The artist’s research for this installation is based initially on data collected by the Counting Dead Women project, and then cross referenced with the femicide census, media reports on local news and radio stations, and national news reports.

If you can, please donate to WOOLF's charity of choice, Hull Sistersa non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting Black and minority ethnic women who are dealing with human rights issues – including violence and abuse, racism and discrimination, immigration, FGM, trafficking, poverty and poor health.

The charity is in dire need of funding due to being evicted by the council. Further info: here. Go fund me link: here.
