Richard Saltoun Gallery presents a booth dedicated to pioneering women in textile and ceramic art. At the heart of the presentation are seminal works by the groundbreaking textile artists Magdalena Abakanowicz (1930–2017), Olga de Amaral (b. 1932), Jagoda Buić (1930–2022), and Barbara Levittoux-Świderska (1933–2019), artists who redefined the language of fibre and expanded the possibilities of textile as sculptural form.
Continuing this exploration of materiality and experimentation, the booth also features significant works by Carmen Dionyse (1921–2013), Simone Fattal (b. 1942), Franca Maranò (1920–2015), Carol McNicoll (1943–2025), and Jacqueline Poncelet (b. 1947), whose innovative practices challenge traditional hierarchies between art, craft, and design.
Across generations and geographies, these women artists interrogate the boundaries between fine art and craft, asserting textile and ceramics as critical, conceptual, and materially ambitious practices.
